Lucerne hub - Gothic stained glass for the Hessisches Landesmuseum Darmstadt
Between 1939 and 1943, 18 Gothic stained glass windows entered the HLMD collection via the Fischer Gallery in Lucerne. They were not purchased directly, but via the Darmstadt-based book and art dealer Carl W. Buemming. Of these window panes, 13 come from Austrian churches. But why did the church sell these panes and how did they end up in Switzerland? And how did Buemming come into possession of them?
About the event
Dr. Udo Felbinger talks about his research in front of the original panes. The tour will be in German only.
